Simply put, Eugene Pao is Hong Kong’s most publicly recognized jazz musician and his name is synonymous with jazz in our city. Such reputation cannot be more deserving as Eugene has been at the vanguard of promoting jazz in the territory through his performances and recordings over the last thirty plus years.
He has released many albums under his name and has recorded and performed with Jazz greats Jack Dejohnette, Michael Brecker, John Patitucci, Martin Taylor, Ulf Wakienius, Laura Fygi, Kazumi Watanabe, Eric Marienthal, Ernie Watts, James Morrison, Richard Galiano, Terumasa Hino, James Moody, Bob Berg, Bobby McFerrin just to name a few.
He has performed at International Jazz Festivals such as Montreal Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Java Jazz Festival, Singapore Jazz festival, Mount Fuji Jazz Festival, Live Under The Sky Jazz Festival etc.
Other venues he has performed at include Royal Albert Hall in London, Blue Note jazz club in Japan & Beijing, Ronnie Scotts in London, JazzKeller in Frankfurt and many around the world.
Over the last three decades, Eugene has truly established himself as Hong Kong’s premier jazz guitarist and continues to travel the world for performances at international jazz festivals, concert halls & jazz clubs.
